I was trying to repair my computer yesterday…I had to format the present XP version and install Windows’98 version(my brother has got a game cd which can be played only in 98 version-I have to install it for his sake). I am not an expert in handling computers…I had once seen my sister who is a software engineer, format and install the operating system…and i thought I could manage it myself. Moreover this is not the first time I was going to format the hard disk…I went on…But…something went wrong…I dont even understand what it is that went wrong..I have to search for an engineer now!!
Dealing with computers is not my proffession..I did not study anything about it..but still I had been managing small problems by myself without consulting an expert. Probably, that is what everyone does–trying to manage things by themselves without going for an expert for every silly problem.
BUT….
Health is an exception
I had once attempted to emphasize the same in my previous post ‘To hell with Over-the-counter drugs’..and I want to do it again. My attempt to repair my computer by myself is not really dangerous and is not going to cost me millions…surely!! Afterall, computer is a machine…!!
But that is not the case with health…MISTAKES TAKE LIVES!!
Please..please..please… dont experiment. Consult a doctor in case of any problem.
When I was speaking about this to a friend, she laughed and called it another form of publicity-one of the tricks doctors play to increase crowd in their clinics…Well, quite natural! This is what really comes into peoples’ minds when they hear a doctor speaking like this. May be everyone who reads the post feels the same. But I am determined to lay stress on it.
I study in an Government college and I spend good length of time in a government hospital where medical care is provided at the least possible cost. I dont really know anything about the charges people have to pay in private hospitals…until that friend of mine explained. I am still a student..not yet manipulated by personal pressures into a commercial doctor. Atleast, you people can trust me.. π
Hi,
I presume you are looking for a ‘multi-boot’ installation?
Where you partition your harddisk into two for the two OS.
W98 can run a disk format Fat32,
but XP prefers NTFS.
You may have formatted it to NTFS,
so W98 is not happy.
Windows XP
needs atleast 1.5GB partition to install,
and atleast 5GB to run efficiently.
If your HD has enough memory,
and you wish to try let me know,
I am no IT personnel either,
I learnt most of this process by surfing the net.
After all you have nothing to lose. π
You have already reformatted the disk, you said.
I can help you dear in this case….. π
Akhila: I will surely ask when I need it π
